Gabrielle was tasked with creating a unit set base that would work for all 4 productions. Each would have a 5-day run and 2-3 days for changeover and tech. Because of the tight schedule and the tight budget, it was decided that the previous set (left in place after initial COVID shut-down) would be repurposed. Each show was incredibly different, but each broke the 4th wall at times, acknowledging the audience or the fact that the show is taking place inside a theater, etc. The main inspiration for the design derived from historical photos of old theaters that were bare; no set, no lights, curtains open, etc. The pieces felt like they honored the perseverance of theater throughout a pandemic, and how artists will always find a way to create art. "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction," and TEDtalks also served as inspiration for the feel/mood.

To increase the variation of the looks of the sets, faux wood flooring was used for the first two productions, and then the flooring was taken up to reveal a dark wash floor which mimicked a black stage floor with years of dust/work and coats of paint. Below was the elevation for the look of the second floor.
